What About Converting Current Customizations?
One key aspect of upgrading from an older version of NAV to Business Central is converting your customizations from C/AL to AL code.
In some cases, old customizations can be replaced with existing Business Central functionality while in other cases the customizations need to be rewritten. Common customizations that no longer need to be utilized would be multiple remit to addresses, statistical accounts, multiple vendor remit-to addresses and default line item types.
In other cases, it makes more sense to start from scratch and “reimplement” Business Central than it does to perform a migration. Schneider Downs can help you identify the appropriate option.

** Perpetual Licensing is currently available for Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises; however licensing will be shifting to subscription in October 2025. At this point, new Business Central customers will purchase the subscription licenses. Existing Perpetual customers may still purchase additional perpetual licenses.
