Intel was just the beginning. Over the last several years, Columbus has announced the addition of many big-named corporations to the region that will alter not only the economy as we know it but also the landscape of Columbus and its surrounding areas. The amount of logistics that go into planning for such large employers is likely something that most people haven’t fully wrapped their heads around. Schneider Downs is proud to host a group of professionals that were instrumental in bringing Intel to the region and continue to work in various sectors making sure we are fully prepared for what’s ahead. Matt McQuade, Managing Director of Business Development of One Columbus, will kick us off by explaining why Central Ohio is such a hot spot for new companies and how we got where we are today. Then, we’ll move to a panel discussion, moderated by Schneider Downs Wealth Management Partner Dave Brinkman, to bring together multiple perspectives on such topics as:
- What needs to happen with housing, highways, airport expansion, public transportation, etc. to accommodate the influx of new business?
- With nationwide labor shortages, how are we filling all of the new jobs?
- What could be the economic impact on the existing industries and companies in the region, as well as what opportunities could it present?
