Schneider Downs Names Co-Directors for System and Organization Control (SOC) Report Practice
PITTSBURGH, PA – Schneider Downs announced it has named Heather A. Haemer and Holly L. Russo as Directors of the firm’s growing System and Organization Control (SOC) Report practice. In this role, the duo will be responsible for the technical direction and market growth of this service area, an important discipline within Schneider Downs’ Risk Advisory Services practice.
SOC reports are examinations provided by certified public accountants (CPAs) in connection with system-level controls of a service organization or entity-level controls at other organizations. These reports are frequently used to evaluate controls that are likely to be relevant to a user entity's internal control over financial reporting or controls relevant to an organization’s security, processing integrity, privacy, confidentiality and/or availability. Schneider Downs’ SOC Report practice has worked with clients for nearly 15 years with continued and steady growth.
“Schneider Downs’ SOC Report practice has continued to grow every year since we began issuing SOC reports,” said Donald B. Applegarth, Chairperson of the firm’s Assurance and Advisory Services practice. “In light of steady and increasing growth, we recognize the need for dedicated leadership to ensure the continued success of the practice. Heather and Holly have been essential team members of the practice and are ideally qualified to lead us forward.”
Heather Haemer joined Schneider Downs in 2006 and has more than 18 years of experience as an internal audit and risk advisory professional. In addition to serving the SOC practice, Heather is a leader in the firm’s Higher Education Risk Advisory Services (RAS) practice. Her expertise includes process and internal control review practices, operational and compliance audits, risk assessments, data analysis techniques and SOC examinations for a wide range of clients. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Pittsburgh Chapter, as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), through which she serves as a SOC Peer Review Specialist. Heather is a graduate of Gannon University.
Holly Russo joined Schneider Downs in 2006 and has more than 25 years of experience in both public accounting and industry. She possesses a wealth of practical experience, with nearly 15 years of accounting experience with a leading confectionery manufacturer. In addition to her extensive work providing SOC reporting services, Holly’s expertise includes Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, business process, and internal control review practices and various types of internal audit projects for clients across a broad spectrum of industries.
