Honor, Integrity, Trust and Commitment are all part of the promise we make to our clients. We know they have a choice of service providers, and we are proud they have selected our firm. We are deeply committed to knowing what matters to their business, and we aspire to provide the best service that fits their needs, all while maintaining a personalized, unique approach. We hold these same values when it comes it our employees. In this day and age there are many opportunities for candidates to choose from, and we want our employees to know that we take pride in the fact they selected our firm as their #1 choice to nurture and grow their career.
Schneider Downs has doubled in size over the past 15 years, and we've named 12 new shareholders in the past two years, the majority of which were promoted from within. We offer training and development plans that will assist with our employees’ career growth, and our leadership is motivated to provide mentorship for those who seek to advance their career with us.
Compensation & Flexibility
We offer our employees competitive salaries and a broad base of benefits, including flexible work hours and work arrangements, which involve the opportunity to work from home in some cases. We offer a generous vacation time, personal days and extra holiday time to encourage our employees to recharge and reboot for a healthier, happier work-life balance. We regularly reassess our total rewards to ensure we remain competitive and fair to our employees, and to demonstrate our commitment to good health, well-being and promoting work with a purpose.
Our Culture: A Spirit of Collaboration
Schneider Downs has remained independent since its inception in 1956. Our culture began as one of a friendly, family-oriented environment. We recognize that our culture is our identity. It is the building block of what makes us unique. Even as we grow, we are working hard to retain that same close-knit culture and continuously promote a positive, supportive work environment. By promoting a culture that encourages our employees to connect, communicate and celebrate together, we believe they will feel empowered by knowing they are valued.
Work Place Perks
We are a small company with a big heart. We add free perks to impact our employees in the best possible way, including a rewards/recognition system of gift cards, seasonal happy hours, annual family summer picnics, a family movie day event and luncheon, an annual pancake breakfast and our post-busy season celebration. And speaking of busy season, to show our appreciation to and reward our hard-working employees, during this time of year we offer freebies like chair massages, specially-planned evening dinners, Girl Scout cookie day, popcorn days, donut day, pizza nights and a bombardment of baked goods on Valentines’ and St. Patrick’s Day!
Dress for Your Day Policy
We believe in the importance of a professional presence, but we also trust that our employees can still achieve that with the freedom to choose what they wear to work each day, based on their schedule at the office and whether or not client meetings are part of their day.
Our Care Factor
Our mission statement of working together every day to make our Firm, clients and communities better is embodied by our SD Cares group, comprised of various levels of our staff and management. SD Cares helps to facilitate, organize and promote volunteer and fundraising opportunities in our communities. We believe there is no better way to instill pride in our employees than by providing them with opportunities to give back to the community.
We serve a variety of industries, including not-for-profit, manufacturing, retail, transportation and logistics, energy and natural resources, and construction and real estate. In addition, we offer more than 80 service offerings, including audit and assurance services, tax compliance and consulting, business advisory, corporate finance, and wealth management and private family office services. We are big on promoting from within, and this diversity among our clientele offers our employees a plethora of opportunities should they ponder a change career-path direction.
It’s true that a company’s leadership reflects the organization’s values and principles. Our founders, James T. Schneider and Paul Downs, set the stage for the future growth and success of the firm by instilling in its employees the importance of providing ethical, legendary service. This practice and belief holds true today, and is upheld by our dual CEOs at the helm of the firm and supported by our diverse team of shareholders and practice unit leaders.
