It’s that time of year again – the IRS issued a statement on January 4 announcing the official beginning of tax season on Monday, January 29, 2018. Starting on this date, the IRS will begin accepting 2017 income tax returns.
This year’s filing deadline for individual income tax returns is Tuesday, April 17, 2018, since the traditional April 15 falls on a Sunday, and the following Monday is a government holiday.
The IRS wanted to remind taxpayers that filing electronically is the fastest and most efficient way to file your tax return and get your refund. It also wanted to inform taxpayers that refunds from the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit would not be issued before February 27, 2018.
