Going into this internship, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. This was my first experience taking my knowledge from my coursework and applying it to work in the “real world.” From day one, I felt the empowerment and support from all of the Schneider Downs employees and knew that my internship experiences this summer would be like no other.
Now, about two weeks out from my scheduled end-date, I can confidently say that this was an incredible opportunity. Working with the Wealth Management Team as an Investment Analyst Intern, I have gone beyond the textbook meanings of finance and gained so much experience in that “real world” work life.
Not only, did I get to work directly with investment material, but I was able to gain an understanding of the financial planners’ and operations team’s day-to-day as well. We had the opportunity to sit in on both investment meetings and planning meetings while still working on skill development with projects of our own.
I gained experience in investment allocation, public speaking, wealth management software, understanding fiduciary responsibilities, the importance of networking and more. I am looking forward to taking what I have learned at Schneider Downs this summer and applying it to my future!
