October is here, which means for the 17th year in a row, the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) will be celebrating National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) in an effort to raise awareness about cybersecurity and provide resources to keep us secure online.
The themes for this year are Do Your Part, #BeCyberSmart and If You Connect It, Protect It, both of which are especially relevant with the increased reliance on remote work and learning settings, and stress the importance of personal accountability in keeping families and organizations safe. You can view the full schedule and resources, including social media posts and tip sheets, at www.cisa.gov/national-cyber-security-awareness-month.
In support of NCSAM, the Schneider Downs cybersecurity team has created several new resources in our continued effort to help organizations and end users stay secure year-round.

In addition, our cybersecurity team will be sharing tips for safely working at home from their homes in a new video series aimed at increasing participant education and knowledge on staying safe remote. Be sure to keep an eye out for these short videos on our website and our Linkedin and Twitter accounts.
As much as we love cybersecurity taking center stage every October on a national scale, as always, we stress the importance of cybersecurity every month, day and hour of the year. Over the past months, we have adjusted to the new normal (or is this just normal for now?) in so many ways —from how we socialize to how we work to how we learn—and cybersecurity is an essential element throughout an increasingly connected world. Whether you are concerned about keeping your organization, end users or students secure, the need to prioritize cybersecurity will only increase as we move forward.
