How it Started
It was 2012, and it was our client's first foray out of Big 4 territory so they weren’t sure what to expect when we performed our first audit for their family-owned professional services company. A smooth transition led them to be ensured we would perform at the high level to which they were accustomed. Service level was important to them, with considerable pride in their excellent reputation and established brand. We knew they had ambitious growth goals and needed a partner with the capacity and expertise to grow their business. We were to be that partner.
A Proud Partnership
As the client grew comfortable they started transitioning work from other firms. What began as a corporate audit grew to include additional ancillary audits and other agreed-upon procedures. As the client noticed they received the same high level of service, responsiveness and timeliness from us, our relationship continued to grow. Since we began working together, the client has nearly doubled in size. And we have grown with them, expanding our service offerings with their growing needs. We have worked together on cybersecurity assessments, due diligence on acquisitions, tax work, compensation studies and family office matters. When the financial reporting and controls of acquired entities didn’t meet our client’s standards, we stepped in to bring them up to speed. As partners, we protect their brand by ensuring consistency across locations and disaggregated accounting functions.
How it's Going
After more than 10 years, we have become fully integrated into the client’s operations. Each time a major business decision looms, they consult with us on the implications from an accounting, tax and general organizational perspective. We assume the audit work for each acquisition they gain, and they know we will help to maintain a reputation they can take pride in. We, in turn, are incredibly proud to call them our clients and friends.

While we are required to have an audit and to file with the IRS and Commonwealth, we view our relationship with Schneider Downs as more of a partnership.
