How it Started
23 years ago, one of our current energy clients struggled to find a good high-quality audit and tax service provider that truly understood its industry. Though they had tried several different audit and tax providers over the years, they couldn’t find a firm with the industry expertise necessary to support their growing business effectively. When they were finally introduced to Schneider Downs, our experience with the nuances of energy-specific accounting and tax standards differentiated us from the previous firms. We were in it for the long haul when they engaged us all those years ago.

Though the client started as a relatively small operation, they were able to experience the tremendous growth they believed was possible. And we have been with them every step of the way, growing and adapting as their inventory expanded and their operations became increasingly complex.
We’ve had the expertise and capacity to handle every industry-specific need over the years, from implementing new ARO accounting standards and depletion accounting to various tax-related services.
Satisfied their needs were being met, the client settled into a steady audit and tax relationship with us for nearly a quarter of a century. As success continued and trust grew, that relationship expanded to provide solutions to other areas of operations as well. Over time, our technology services team was pulled in to implement and upgrade their ERP system, and today, Schneider Downs also consults on the client’s ERISA plans and trust and estate matters.

Fueled by their incredible growth, the client sought to diversify their operations by acquiring several companies in different industries and geographies. After each acquisition, we have been their first phone call for the audit and tax work. Over the long course of extended trust, the relationship continues to grow and evolve, as Schneider Downs remains the “first call” when new solutions are needed.
